As far as too when to book your trip, all I can say is that, as soon as possible is the best time too book.
I have heard that staying inside Disney is the best option. I know you get like an extra hour inside the park by staying at a resort inside there.

I’m planning on taking my family of 5 down there sometime in April. We live near Notre Dame, and have an airport near here.
