What is the best ski resort in New Zealand for Working Holiday?
ski holiday
Kendy asked:

I am moving to New Zealand in June for a Working Holiday. I figured since I’m going to catch the winter there, I may as well work at a ski resort. I live in Aspen, Colorado, so I’m not expecting to be amazed by the ski conditions; I want a mountain with the best mix of snow and nightlife… Kiwi or otherwise. Any suggestions?

  1. Queenstown, all the way. As you also intend to work, you’ll find that place really good. It’s abuzz with opportunity, and nightlife is amazing there.

Either Queenstown or Wanaka. Both have multiple ski fields in the area. Both are full of travellers and young people and have good nightscenes. Queenstown in particular has a reputation as a party town. Beware because Queenstown is VERY expensive to live in, they have a problem with finding enough cheap accommodation for seasonal workers. I’ve heard (from one of my tourism lecturers) that some hotels will hire people in, say, Christchurch or even Auckland and fly them to the hotels and back each week because it is cheaper to fly them in than give them a room on their days off!
