Nah if you ski or board go to Vermont. Specifically, Burlington or Stowe.
New York City is lovely during the winter, especially Christmas. If you don’t mind snow and freezing cold, then the northeast is definitely a good choice. Also, consider New Hampshire, upstate New York (ADIRONDACKS!!! or Catskills!…also, Niagara Falls), and Maine (it is so lush and verdant up there. Though cold, it’s breathtaking, especially all of the New England lighthouses, and frozen over ocean beaches). Tons of seals, and whales passing, too…! Why go when the coast is full of tourists and fishermen? Bundle up, go when it is desolate, and you’ll have time to enjoy nature.
For a west coast option, try Colorado, or New Mexico, near the Great Rocky Mountains. Glorious.
Also, you might like Kentucky or Tennessee, or anywhere around the Appalachians/Great Smokey Mts.
