Would you be mad if I suggested Utah? Best snow here by far. And you can ski 8-10 world class resorts all within an hours drive.

Anyways, of the two you mentioned, probably Steamboat....but really, consider Utah if you have never been. Colorado doesn't hold a candle to the terrain of Alta/Snowbird.

I have skied both and I would have to say Steamboat. It has great runs of every type. If you are looking for a cruiser, tomahawk is great. For a great tree run: closet. For great steeps the chutes are great. steamboat has a bigger area with several more runs and lifts. also, steamboat has been making improvements all summer while i was there and it will make going up the mountain even easier. getting to steamboat is easy because airlines like delta and american fly there. the extra couple hour drive is worth it to get there if coming from the denver area. also, the powder there is the best i have ever skied

I love Steamboat for the quality of snow, the variety of runs (though the xx runs are pretty hairy!) the town, the food, the beauty, and the people.
Keystone does offer many other ski resorts at close proximity
(Breakenridge, Vail, Arapaho, Copper mnt.) It does get damn cold there though!

If I only had a couple of days I would go to Steamboat. If I had a week I would pick Keystone because it is closer to Denver and there are a lot of things you can do there on the days you aren't skiing. On ski vacations I ski hard the days I am skiing, but I can't ski 7 days in a row.

Steamboat, definitely. It's such a friendly atmosphere and great skiing. Not that you cold go wrong with Colorado skiing... but I would pick Steamboat over Keystone any day

Doesn't matter. Just pick one, and you'll be fine. As long as there's snow, it's on.

Steamboat - more area, better snow, further from Denver (means less "day" skiers - hence, less crowded), not on the side of an Interstate Highway (I-70 goes right by Keystone).
