Hi i’m meant to be organising a group ski holiday for my mates for this winter. Some are beginners and some of us are intermediates. We’re all on a budget! I’m thinking of avoiding France since it can be expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good place to go for a mixed ability group on a budget?

      Bulgaria, Slovenia or Romania.

Bulgaria is certainly very popular as a group resort – and offers very good value for money – especially when there is good sized group of say 6 or more. Try the links. However, France is not nearly as expensive as you may think. There are a number of operators out there – I’ve also included rough guides and lonely planet – good sources of information. The link for lonely planet is large!!!

Mühlbach (Salzburg) in Austria is great and cheap! Loads of local travel lodges and a free bus service that takes you to the slopes, and they offer loads of lessons, private or in larger groups for all abilities. Have fun! :)

Do try the website, which stands for Union des Centres de Plein Air, a French association for sports.

They should have good rates for group holidays (not only in France).

If you avoid the school holidays periods, skying in France remains affordable.
