The local council took ownership of the park in the 1970s when the owners abandoned it and it is now run as a nature reserve by the Abney Park Trust. In Victorian times it is thought that there were over 2000 species of plant in the 32 acres and it is still a very green and tranquil area today – just perfect for anyone who would like to escape the noise of the city.
